Agricultural Meteorology involves the integration of climatological and meteorological data and techniques into agricultural problems, such as crop production, soil moisture, moisture stress, and migration of pests. A good background in basic maths and sciences is required. The chief concerns of modern agricultural meteorology are development of methods of forecasting meteorological phenomena that endanger agriculture and perfection of methods of long-range forecasting of the size and quality of yields, condition of winter crops in winter, and so on. Research in agricultural meteorology is conducted with special instruments, including remote-control instruments that do not affect the natural conditions of crop growing.

Dr. Ajit Kumar Mishra, presently senior lecturer and teaches courses on meteorology and climatology to undergraduate students. He has completed his graduation degree in First division from Agricultural Institute and Post Graduation degree in Agriculture from same university. His academic and research interests lie in global climate change and atmospheric dynamics. Dr. Mishra is an active member of several scientific committees/societies. He is a regular contributor to scientific National/international journals and has many articles and book chapters to his credit.
