Biological diversity is an important natural resource for functioning of the ecosystem that provides us with benefits essential for human well-being. This book contains six chapters and it will provide different tools of biodiversity analysis that offers unique software applied to different environment, how biodiversity informatics/portals relate to the use of information technology to support these needs by organizing knowledge about individual biological organisms and ecological systems they form, how DNA barcodes provide useful information for different stakeholders in conservation, objective of the Protocol and how fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources, how the Intellectual Property Rights are rights to make, use and sell a new product or technology that are granted, solely to the inventor or the corporation which files a claim on the inventor’s behalf and finally enumerate the plant biodiversity parameters in Western and Eastern Ghats as a case study.

Prof. Dr. K. Muthuchelian [Ph.D., D.Sc., FNABS, FPbS, FZSI, FIEF (Canada)] is a world renowned environment scientist and former Vice Chancellor of Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. He has been conferred with "Doctor of Science" (D.Sc.,) and has been nominated as "Fellow of International Energy Foundation (FIEF)", "Fellow of National Academy of Biological Sciences (FNABS)", "Fellow of Paleobotanical Society (FPBS)" and "Fellow of Zoological Society of India (FZSI)". He has received many prestigious awards such as Merit of Excellence Award & Life time Achievement Award, by UNESCO, UNICEF, IIFANS and Indian Association of Applied Microbiologists and twice the ‘Best ViceChancellor Award’. He has been serving as member in various international prestigious professional bodies including International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), Switzerland. His books on Plant Biodiversity and Animal Biodiversity were graciously released by Hon’ble Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India. Currently, he is a member in the Steering Committee of the 12 Planning Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu.
