Dr. Satya Kumar born on 15th April 1967 in Kanpur, is an emiennt extension Plant Protection Scientist, did his M.Sc. from G.B. Pant Univ. of Agri. & Tech., Pantnagar and Ph.D. from CSA. Univ. of Agri. & Tech, Kanpur. He served G.B. Pant Uni. of Agri. & Tech., Pantnagar with various capacities, Dr. Kumar is well known for his extension activities and made aware of new agricultural technologies to the farmers of Uttarakhand. He worked as Professor and Incharge P.R.B.C., Khanna Farm, Bhagwanpur U.S. Nagar. He identified new insect, disease and nematode problems in the state Uttarakhand region and demonstrated various newer techniques/technologies to minimise the losses caused by above biotic factors. Production technology for certified seeds of Kufri Jyoti and Kufri Giriraj was demonstrated in farmers fields. Cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants was introduced in Uttarakhand hills to benefit the local and marginal farmers. Dr. Kumar has published 36 papers and abstracts in National & International journals. Presently working as Professor, Department Plant Pathology, G.B. Pant Univ. of Agril. & Tech., Pantnagar. Dr. D. Prasad (b. on 20-1-1948) retired as Prof. and Head, I.A.R.I., has more that 40 years of research and teaching experience in the field of nematology in particular and plant protection in general. He has published more than 146 research papers, 100 abstracts presented in symposia of national and international repute and 95 chapters in various books. Dr. Prasad is known for his research contributions in nematode management on groundnut and soybean and developed IPM nodule for root knot nematode on groundnut. He also worked on environmentally safe pesticides, developed and tested two new molecules for control of nematodes and hence sent to ICAR for Patening, and received HARDF Award for 1994, fellow of Several Societies won many prestigious award of Societies and Agril. Universities. Dr. Prasad has written/edited books namely Environment Pollution - Air, Water, Land, Radiation, Solid Waste, Thermal, Soil Environment & Pesticides, Potential IPM Tactics, Ecofriendly Pest Suppression, Crop Pest and Disease Management, Advances in Plant Protection Sciences, Crop Protection: Management Strategies, Sustainable Pests Management, Insect Pest and Disease Management, Sustainable Crop Protection Strategies (2 volumes) and Crop Protection, Conservation and Diversity (2 volumes) during the past few years. He founded a Society of Plant Protection Sciences in 1992 which publishes six monthly Journal "Annals of Plant Protection Sciences".
