This book is intended to provide consolidated information on citrus breeding in the era of biotechnology, breeding, genetic and genomic diversity which is likely to hasten the pace of variety development aimed at resolving the problems faced by grove owners growing currently available cultivars. The subjects covered are focused on citrus while providing information equally useful to the breeders of other tree crops. It will also help students of genetic and breeding to identify appropriate applications of biotechnology in citrus breeding.

Prof. (Dr.) Vipin Masih Prasad is working as Professor and Head, Department of Horticulture, SHIATS, Allahabad. He completed his bachelor and master’s degree from Allahabad Agriculture Institute, Allahabad. Dr. Prasad completed his PhD. in Horticulture from Kanpur University Kanpur. He started his carrier as a Lecturer (ad hoc) from 23-3-1996 and joined Assistant Professor on 26-03-1997 at SHIATS, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His field of specialization is Vegetable Science & Post Harvest Technology of Fruits and Vegetables. Dr. Prasad has long experiences (about 20 years) in Teaching/ Research & Extension work. He successfully guided 8 PhD. and 58 post-graduate students in their research. He received several awards and recognitions. Dr. Prasad has membership of different National and international societies and attended so many International/ National Symposia, conferences etc. He has published more than 30 research papers in different National and international Journals and author of a book. Sarvesh Singh is research scholar in Department of Horticulture, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He passed B.Sc. (Ag.) in 2008 and M.Sc. (Ag.) Horticulture in 2010 with specialization in Pomology from N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad. He was awarded Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal in B.Sc. (Ag.) and Chaudhary Charan Singh Smriti Pratibha Puruskar in 2008. Mr. Singh has sound practical experience on fruit propagation and salt tolerance of fruit crops. Moreover, he has written many popular articles for dissemination of knowledge in people concerned with horticulture and related activities, including leaflets, research papers and five book chapters.
